Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Unit in WYTU

West Yangon Technological University (WYTU) has been trying to initiate Quality Assurance Process for achieving quality engineering education in 2014. Since then, teaching staff from WYTU have been attended and participated in training, workshop and seminar related to Quality Assurance and Quality Management System.  Implementing Quality Management System is one of the required criteria for establishing Quality Assurance and so, WYTU started to establish Quality Management System in 2014-2015. WYTU made provision for undergraduate engineering education and training service in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 Standards and upgraded to ISO 9001:2015 Standards in 2018. In implementing the Quality Management System, WYTU follows the procedures and instructions described in Quality Manual, Quality Procedures Manual and Work Instruction Manual/Standard Operating Procedures.

For developing quality management system and establishing the quality culture, Quality Management Representative is assigned and he/she collaborated with departmental representatives of each department. Each department assigned representative for implementing departmental quality management system of teaching/learning services according to guidelines and standards. Internal auditing process is carried out once a year by assigned internal auditors who had already attended the internal auditor training. External auditing process is carried out once a year by authorized auditors of Myanmar Bureau Veritas Ltd until 2020.

            In 2023, Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) unit is reorganized for enhancing quality culture including Quality Management System, Outcome Based Education and process related to quality assurance in WYTU and the organizational structure is shown in below.

            Additionally, WYTU is also associate member of ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) since 2019 and representatives from IQA unit participate in the trainings and events of AUN-QA.
