Study on the Relation between Particle Size and Leaching Performance of the Chalcocite Ore based on Column Leaching Test

This paper studied to show the relation between particle size and leaching kinetics of the chalcocite ore and that is applied as the reference for practical leach pads in mine site. Permeability test is studied the physical nature of chalcocite ore that is applied in column leaching for selection of irrigation rate. Column leaching tests with different size distribution is studied to know the relation of size distribution and leaching performance of chalcocite ore. Column leaching test of crushed and stacked ores from different location of leach pad cells is also studied to know the leaching performance. The results showed that size distribution is very important in heap leaching to get highest recovery. If fine sample size is more present, permeability is very bad and the leaching performance of heap is also bad. It can’t get the required copper recovery in time. Even competent ore is used, recovery and leaching kinetics are better in optimum fine size. Leaching performance of laboratory lab test is the reference for the leaching performance of practical mine site.
