                    Joint research and development--X band phased array weather radar system
The collaborative research ‘X band phased array weather radar system project’ belongs to strategic international scientific innovation cooperation key special project of Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology. This is collaborative research between Beijing Institute of Radio Measurement (BIRM), China and Department of Research and Innovation under Ministry of Education.
The project is focused on developing high-performance small-scale weather observation equipment systems and information fusion methods. It will have a comprehensive understanding of small-scale weather system and their interactions with other scale weather systems. It will explore the related mechanism, and improve the effectiveness of disaster weather forecast and early-warning, then realize scientific disaster prevention and reduction. Based on this objective, the project will develop a set of X band phased array weather radar system. To implement this project, DRI has collaborated with West Yangon Technological University (WYTU) and University of Computer Studies, Yangon (UCSY). Four researchers from DRI, WYTU, and UCSY have conducted the X band phased array weather radar research at Beijing Institute of Radio Measurement, China.
